WASHINGTON — In a recent announcement, Mid-Atlantic Construction Magazine honored Clark Realty Capital (CRC) with a Best of 2008 Award, selecting Park Village at The Villages of Belvoir as one of the year’s most impressive new DC-area projects. The judges awarded CRC in the competitive Renovation category, where Park Village received an Award of Merit for restoring two 1930s homes to preserve a piece of history for the military families who reside at Fort Belvoir.
“This was our most competitive awards program ever,” said Bruce Buckley, managing editor of Mid-Atlantic Construction. “Although our jury poured over a record number of entries, the jurors remained highly selective in choosing the winners. Those honored in this year’s awards program are truly considered the region’s best by their peers.”
Entries for the award were judged on the project team’s success in overcoming significant challenges, adopting innovative approaches, and exhibiting exceptional teamwork. At Park Village, CRC along with general contractor, Clark Builders Group, converted two 1930s homes into modern, livable spaces, restoring original wood-burning fireplaces to working order and installing EnergyStar appliances. The team took careful action to salvage and restore the intricate wood detail of the homes’ original façades and also constructed new homes in Park Village in a Craftsman style and 1930s color scheme. Their efforts created an integrated, beautiful streetscape that honors past service members while suiting modern families.
"CRC is honored to be recognized by Mid-Atlantic Construction for one of our most rewarding endeavors at the Fort Belvoir RCI project,” said Casey Nolan, project director for Clark Realty Capital. “Preserving the historic structure of these homes while updating them for modern family use pays tribute to past residents and their outstanding legacy of service."
The Fort Belvoir family housing project represents an eight-year partnership between CRC and the Department of the Army that includes the demolition and replacement of 1,630 homes and the renovation of 170 historically significant homes. Park Village will be honored along with all of the Best of 2008 Award Winners in the Winter 2008 edition of Mid-Atlantic Construction and during a December 12 awards ceremony in Baltimore, Maryland.
